How do I add personas?
Different audiences see different AI responses to the same question. Personas in AirOps Insights let you simulate how each segment experiences your brand's visibility so you can measure what matters most to each group. This tutorial covers how to create and apply them.
Key takeaways
- Personas let you measure AI visibility by audience segment rather than in aggregate, because the same prompt can return very different answers depending on who is asking.
- Each persona multiplies your total prompt runs, meaning 200 prompts with 3 personas generates 600 answers to analyze, so plan your persona count with your usage limits in mind.
- A default persona is always active, so you can start getting baseline AI visibility data without any configuration.
- Three to five well-defined personas based on your actual ICP outperform a longer list of vague ones, because quality of definition matters more than quantity.
- Persona is available as a filter across all Analytics tabs, including Visibility, Citations, Sentiment, and Community.
Tutorial overview
The same prompt gets different answers depending on who's asking. A CFO asking about cost reduction gets a different AI response than a marketing manager asking the same question. Personas in AirOps Insights let you measure that difference, giving you audience-segmented visibility data that shows not just how AI talks about your brand, but how it talks about your brand to each customer type.
The richer the persona definition, the more targeted the model's responses will be. A well-built persona captures real buyer context: their role, goals, pain points, and what they care about, so your visibility data becomes more precise and useful for measuring relevance by segment.
Three to five well-defined personas outperform a longer list of vague ones. Base them on your actual ICP, and revisit them quarterly as your target audience evolves.
Practice
Open Insights settings and add a persona
Insights Settings is accessible from the top-right corner of any Insights page in AirOps. It opens the configuration panel for tracking parameters, competitors, personas, and integrations. Navigate to the Demographics section and click + Add Persona to open the persona creation form where a new audience segment can be defined.
Enter persona details and save
The Add Persona modal in AirOps requires a Title and a Description for the new persona. The description should define the customer type without referencing specific brand names. Enable the Assign to all prompts toggle to automatically link the new persona to all existing prompts, then click Save to add it to the workspace immediately.
