How do I configure audiences in my Brand Kit?
Content that speaks to everyone connects with no one. Defining Audiences in your Brand Kit gives your AI workflows the segment-specific context they need to write with the right tone, terminology, and priorities for each group. This tutorial covers how to create and configure Audiences in AirOps.
Key takeaways
- An Audience profile captures a segment's role, goals, and pain points so Playbooks generate content tailored to that reader.
- When an Audience is selected in a Playbook, the AI adjusts tone and avoids language that doesn't fit, turning generic content into targeted output.
- Audience-specific writing rules override global rules, so you can fine-tune AI behavior per segment without changing your baseline.
- Audiences save automatically and become available across Content Types, Playbooks, and Grids immediately.
- The more specific your Audience definition, the more precisely Playbooks will write for each segment.
Tutorial overview
Content that speaks to everyone connects with no one. Audiences in AirOps let you define exactly who your brand communicates with, capturing who each segment is, what they care about, and how your content should speak to them.
When you connect a Brand Kit to an AI workflow and select an Audience, AirOps automatically adjusts tone, language, and messaging to match that segment. Instead of one-size-fits-all copy, you get content tailored to each reader's role, goals, and pain points.
You'll find the Audiences section inside your Brand Kit. Add a name, describe the segment, fill in their goals and pain points, and include any messaging guidance the AI should follow. The more specific your definition, the more precisely your workflows will write for that audience. If your brand serves multiple distinct segments, such as enterprise buyers, SMB marketing leads, or content marketers, each one gets its own Audience profile with its own guardrails.
Practice
Open the audiences tab and add a new audience
The Audiences tab in an AirOps Brand Kit is accessible from the top navigation within the Brand Kit editor, where target audience segments are created and managed for use in content generation. Click Add Audience to open the modal for creating a new audience segment.
Configure and save the new audience
In the Add Audience modal, enter the audience segment name (such as Media Managers and Designers), which identifies the audience across workflows and content tools. Add a Sample URL representing content this audience would engage with; AirOps uses this to tailor content for the segment. Select a content type from the dropdown to match the sample URL to a specific format, such as How To Blog. Click Add Audience to save the configuration and make the audience available across workflows and content tools.
Customize the audience card and add writing rules
Clicking an audience card in the Audiences tab opens the detail page where the audience can be further customized. Review and edit the Audience Description to keep messaging focused and relevant for this segment. Use the Add Rule button in the Writing Rules section to create writing guidelines specific to this audience. These rules shape how AI-generated content is styled for this group.
Publish Brand Kit
Sharing the updated audience and its writing rules with the team requires clicking Publish. The button is in the top-right corner of the Brand Kit editor.
